Tick nightmare takes another life

A tick attached itself to the shoulder of 59-year-old Halil Ağıl, a married father of two who works as a livestock breeder in the village of Gülpınar in Sivas province, about a month ago. The tick was removed at Cumhuriyet University Hospital.
Ağıl, who fell ill shortly afterward, was taken back to Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty Hospital by his relatives. There, he was treated for suspected Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) and passed away yesterday. His body was retrieved from the hospital morgue by his relatives and taken to the village of Gülpınar for burial.

The number of people who died from ticks in the city this year has risen to 11.
