Pedro Moreira ends his football career and joins the Arouca structure

Pedro Moreira ended his football career at the age of 36 and is now taking on a role in the technical structure of Arouca's professional football team, the Portuguese I League team announced today.

After having spent the last six seasons with the Arouca team, the player remains linked to the club for which he played in 75 matches, with one goal and five assists registered, occupying the position of "team manager assistant".

"I am extremely proud of the career I have built. Thank you football, to all the coaches, to all the players and to all the people I have come across throughout my career. A special thank you to my family, who have always been by my side in good times and bad," he said, in statements reproduced in a statement by the club.

Pedro Moreira did not play any minutes under coach Vasco Seabra, as had also happened under his predecessor, Gonzalo García, but he was still one of the team captains, highly valued for his leadership skills.

"I would like to thank Arouca for the opportunity they gave me as a player and now in this new phase of my career. I am leaving with a clear conscience, full and at peace. I am facing this new challenge with the same responsibility and commitment as always. I would like to thank the president and Joel Pinho [sporting director] for their trust and for introducing me to this project," he added.

In 18 seasons as a senior, Pedro Moreira, a youth international for Portugal, has played for Boavista, Gil Vicente, Portimonense, FC Porto, Rio Ave, Hermannstadt (Romania), as well as Arouca.

With a view to preparing for the 2025/26 season, Arouca begins pre-season work on Tuesday, with medical examinations.
