Martim Mayer will formalize his candidacy for the presidency of Benfica this Wednesday at the Teatro Capitólio, in Parque Mayer, in Lisbon. The grandson of Borges Coutinho, former leader of the Eagles, will have at least one important supporter in this ceremony: António Simões, club legend.

As revealed on Monday, the former player, who supported Noronha Lopes in 2020, became the representative of the businessman's candidacy and will speak during this afternoon's event, which starts around 6:30 pm.

In this way, Martim Mayer joins the race that already officially includes João Noronha Lopes, João Diogo Manteigas and Cristóvão Carvalho. Luís Filipe Vieira is also preparing to move forward, with Rui Costa still waiting to announce his decision regarding his candidacy.
