Farense announces Cape Verdean Yannick Semedo to reinforce midfield

Cape Verdean international midfielder Yannick Semedo will continue to play in the II Liga football league, moving from Vizela to Farense , the Algarve club announced today.

"One of the best midfielders in the II Liga in the 2024/25 season, playing for Vizela, and champion of the 2023/24 edition with Santa Clara, now arrives in Faro with a clear ambition and desire to win", highlighted Farense, on social media, without specifying the length of the contract.

Yannick Semedo, 29, quoted by the Algarve team, expressed "pride, but also a sense of responsibility" for reinforcing a "history of national football."

"I will always give everything for this emblem so that we can bring much joy to our fans. Count on me: from today on, I will be another lion of Faro," he added.

Yannick Semedo arrived in Portuguese football in 2014, playing for São Roque, and later played for Santa Clara, Marítimo, União da Madeira, Beira-Mar, Salgueiros, Vilaverdense and Vizela.

Farense now has a total of five reinforcements, after having already confirmed defenders Rúben Fernandes and Alysson and wingers Bruno Almeida and Nikola Gjorgjev .

The Algarve team, led by new coach Jorge Silas , begins the championship with a visit to Oliveirense's home ground, in a game scheduled for the weekend of August 9th and 10th.
