Castro Marim hosted the Algarve Football and Futsal Festival
The 2024/2025 sports season ended last Sunday, July 13, with the Algarve Football and Futsal Festival, which this year took place for the first time in Castro Marim , at Quinta do Sobral.
Organized by the Algarve Football Association (AFA) , with the support of the Municipality of Castro Marim, the ceremony recognized the clubs and sports agents that stood out most throughout the season, bringing together more than 300 participants and presenting around one hundred awards.
Among the winners of the night, União Desportiva Castromarinense stood out, winning three trophies: Young Futsal Player of the Year, awarded to Valeria Zayats, the Virtual Football award and the distinction for the Largest Number of Futsal Players, with 131 entries in this modality.
In the honorable mentions, Diogo “diogo10fifa” Gonçalves, winner of the 1st Virtual Football Interassociations by the Castromarinense Sports Union, and coach Ana Rosália Nunes, also from the municipality, were recognized.
Also noteworthy are Algarve footballers João Neves and Gonçalo Ramos, who received honorable mention, both of whom hold prominent positions on the national and international scene. Represented at the ceremony by family members, the two players recently won prestigious titles: the Champions League, the French championship, and the Coupe de France, playing for Paris Saint-Germain. This year, playing for the national team, they also lifted the 2025 Nations League trophy in a final in which Portugal defeated Spain, projecting the Algarve's name to the top of European and world football. More recently, the young players competed in the Club World Cup final, where they finished second after losing to Chelsea Football Club.
The evening was marked by the presence of several personalities linked to sports in the region, in a celebration that recognized not only football and futsal, but also beach soccer, virtual soccer, walking football and refereeing.
