Eugénio Fernandes coordinates airport project management

The Government appointed Eugénio Fernandes to the position of general coordinator of the Mission Structure called Airport Project Management and Monitoring Structure (EGAPA), according to an order published this Thursday in the Official Gazette.
“The person appointed has the appropriate profile, experience and knowledge to carry out the duties and objectives of EGAPA and is endowed with the necessary competence and aptitude to perform the role , as evidenced by the curriculum vitae attached to this dispatch”, states the diploma signed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz.
Eugénio Fernandes' CV includes, among others, positions as director and executive president at Euroatlantic Airways and Airplus (Mozambique).
The EGAPA mission structure, created through a Resolution of the Council of Ministers in January, aims to manage and monitor matters related to the increase in airport capacity and construction of the new Lisbon airport, in the context of the concession contracts signed between the Portuguese State and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, “as well as ensuring the current management of the remaining rights and obligations provided for in the concession contracts, until the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) is duly qualified to carry out this mission”.
On May 14, 2024, the Government approved the construction of the new airport in the Lisbon region at the Shooting Range in Alcochete, following the recommendation of the Independent Technical Commission (CTI).
