Basketball: Budget mismatches leave AAC without a coach

José Abrantes, who managed to return to the Proliga last season, is no longer the coach of Académica.

In an interview with DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS, the 65-year-old coach explained that “the disagreements are of budgetary origin and the conditions presented over the last few weeks have been getting worse and worse”, until he made the decision to leave. “I stopped believing”, he admits.

The coach regrets that Académica has “dropped in organizational and financial terms when it should have been the opposite”.

He says he did “everything to continue”. “My wife had now found a job and my plan was, perhaps, to move my life here for a longer-term project, but with the difficulties that arose I had to decide to leave”, he admits.
