The number of countries guaranteed to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup has increased to 21.

Ghana defeated Comoros 1-0 in the final week of the World Cup African Qualifiers, securing their place in the tournament by finishing first in Group I.

For the first time, 48 teams will participate in the tournament, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The hosts automatically qualify for the World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
