Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev identified the top three domestic athletes without including himself in the list.
This became known from a publication on the Telegram channel “Eat Tennis”.
Medvedev placed hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, captain of the Washington Capitals, who set an NHL record for the number of goals scored, at the top of the ranking. Football player Artem Dzyuba, who plays for the Akron club and the national team, took second place. Tennis player Mirra Andreeva, who leads the ranking of Russian athletes in world women's tennis, rounds out the top three.
“I’m far away now, I hope I’ll return,” Medvedev himself commented on his absence from the list.
The 29-year-old athlete is ranked 11th in the Association of Tennis Professionals rankings and maintains his status as Russia's number one tennis player.
