Ussumani Djumo wins 110m hurdles in Leiria and wins national athletics title

Algarve native Ussumani Djumo, an athlete from the Vianense Olympic Athletics Club, won the 110-meter hurdles and helped the team become champion of the 3rd Division National Championship, which took place in Leiria on July 12 and 13.

The victory in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 14.36 seconds, was marked by the commitment, dedication and team spirit demonstrated by all the athletes from CAOV — Clube de Atletismo Olímpico Vianense.

At the end of the race, Algarve athlete Ussumani Djumo expressed his satisfaction: "I'm very happy with this achievement. I always had great confidence, I knew I would do well, and the fight was for the podium. It was a very happy victory; we believed until the end that the victory would go to CAOV. I'm very proud of this group. My congratulations to all the athletes and coaches at Olímpico Vianense, as well as to the entire club structure. Your commitment and dedication demonstrated the excellent work we've been doing at this Viana do Castelo club."

Fernando Alves, president of CAOV, also shared his joy: "It's a huge achievement. This is where we want to be: first place in the final standings. This victory belongs to everyone: the athletes, the coaching staff, the management, and everyone who accompanies us in every race and every training session. I'd like to especially thank our coaches Mário Cunha, José Barros, Pompeu Castro, David Gomez, Paulo Regufe, as well as Tânia Feital and Diogo Passos, for their tireless work and total dedication. A special thanks to the support team, the Viana do Castelo City Council, and our sponsors. Thank you all."
