Spanish team wants to sign Corinthians' revelation

Gabriel Moscardo, a product of Corinthians and currently linked to Paris Saint-Germain, may be about to switch clubs once again. According to the Spanish newspaper Diário AS, the 18-year-old midfielder is being targeted by Real Betis of Spain. The potential transfer, in addition to boosting the European market, could inject a considerable amount of money into the São Paulo club's coffers, even though it doesn't own any of the player's economic rights.
Corinthians is entitled to 2.5% of the value of any future transfer thanks to FIFA's Solidarity Mechanism. This is because Moscardo spent six years in the club's youth academy, from ages 12 to 18. Therefore, if PSG sells the player for the same €20 million previously invested (equivalent to R$130 million at the current exchange rate), Corinthians would pocket approximately R$3.25 million.
PSG seeks lucrative exit after midfielder's quiet season
It's worth noting that, since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain, Moscardo has had few opportunities. Without a place in the first team, he was loaned to Stade de Reims, where he played only ten matches. As a result, the French club is seeking a more profitable destination, and Real Betis has emerged as an interested party.
Furthermore, Corinthians still has outstanding amounts owed from the original sale. In September, the São Paulo club is expected to receive the second installment of the agreement, signed in 2023, when PSG paid a fixed €20 million plus €2 million for targets.
From youth prospect to the biggest sale in the club's history
Moscardo joined Corinthians in 2017 and signed his first professional contract in 2021. In 2023, he excelled in the Copinha and FIFA Youth Cup, earning promotion to the senior squad under Vanderlei Luxemburgo. His debut came in a 3-0 victory over Liverpool-URU in the Copa Libertadores. After that, he became a starter under Luxemburgo and, later, under Mano Menezes.
It's worth noting that, before moving permanently to France, the player returned to Timão on loan while treating a foot injury. In total, he played 27 games for the club, starting 22 of them, scoring one goal.
In this way, the possible negotiation with Betis could seal a new chapter in the young man's career, while Corinthians watches from afar but with profit.
