Portuguese quartet crowned European champions in their debut in K4 500

The Portuguese K4, made up of Gustavo Gonçalves, João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista and Pedro Casinha, today won the gold medal in the 500-meter event at the 2025 European Canoe Sprint Championships, in Racice, in the Czech Republic. The Portuguese quartet - who competed for the first time in a major international event - completed the distance in 1:19.319 minutes, beating the K4 of the host Czech Republic by 213 hundredths and the Polish representation by 323, who finished in second and third place in the A final.
