Maringá worsens crisis and falls away from the top eight in Série C; coach meets with board

Maringá reached its ninth consecutive game without a win this season. The Paraná team lost 2-0 to Brusque on Monday night (14), in the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship Series C. The goals were scored by forwards Diego Mathias, from a penalty kick, and Guilherme Pira.
The Dogão has accumulated five losses and four draws in the last nine matches, eight of which were in the Third Division. One setback in this streak was against Atlético-MG, which relegated them from the Copa do Brasil.
With these results, Maringá left the G8, which guarantees a spot in the second phase of Série B. The team currently occupies 13th place and has 14 points, three less than eighth-placed Náutico and three more than Tombense, the first team in the relegation zone for Série D.

With the worst run of the season, coach Jorge Castilho met with the board immediately after the game. It was agreed that the team would continue working and sign new players.

"The result is continuity in what we're doing. Obviously, we talked to the board about players and key players. They assured us that new players will be arriving this week to help us. The players are giving their all, but we've had player losses and changes, and things haven't quite worked out," the coach noted.
Despite being confident that Maringá will qualify and keep the dream of promotion to Série B alive, the Dogão commander is betting on the names he has indicated to the board.
"We're racing against time. We have seven games to score points and seek qualification. I have great faith in the board's work. Now it's up to the market to answer for us," he added.
