Looking at Sporting's current transfer window, another position that needs strengthening is right-back, with Vagiannidis being the main target. However, any progress regarding the Greek full-back is unlikely to happen until August. Panathinaikos' board, which fully owns Vagiannidis's contract, informed Sporting's SAD that they are negotiating for the right-back after the Champions League second qualifying round clashes with Rangers (on June 30). Sporting has already submitted a (rejected) offer of €10 million (plus €2 million in variables) for Vagiannidis. Meanwhile, Sporting have also approached Juventus about Alberto, with the asking price (starting at €18 million) considered high.
