Removed from the presidency of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues asked Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the STF, to annul the election called by the interventor Fernando Sarney to take place on the 25th. Ednaldo wants to overturn the election by justifying "institutional risk". The now ex-president cites a Supreme Court vote scheduled to take place on May 28 that will judge the validity of the 2022 election, which kept him in power.

He also called his removal an "illegal and illegitimate intervention." The request was signed by the office of lawyer Gamil Foppel.
"If this Supreme Court recognizes the validity of the agreement approved in the records and the legitimacy of the CBF General Assembly, the practical effects of the electoral call promoted by Fernando Sarney will be immediately nullified, with the consequent reinstatement of the board elected in 2022. The institutional risk is evident. The continuation of the current schedule may imply the installation of a framework of dual mandates and parallel disputes for the presidency of the entity, which would compromise the governance of Brazilian football", states Ednaldo's defense .
Ednaldo also asked for the suspension of the decision to remove him and for the STF to remove Sarney from his position as interventor, citing article 64 of the CBF statute, suggesting Hélio Menezes, the entity's oldest director, to take over the position temporarily.
On Friday, Ednaldo's lawyers corrected a procedural rite made on Thursday (15). Hours after being deposed, Gamil Föppel filed an appeal on Ednaldo's behalf. But he still claimed to be the CBF in the process. Those responsible for the intervention questioned themselves behind the scenes: if Ednaldo was suspended, he could not have used the CBF to appeal.
This Friday (16), he corrected his course. He filed a request for Gilmar Mendes to accept him as a third party in the process that is being processed in the STF and reinforced the request to block the intervention and the election in the CBF.
