Botafogo adapts to absences and draws with Flamengo

With many absences, Botafogo found solutions to be competitive, had a solid performance and tied with Flamengo 0-0, at Maracanã. Coach Renato Paiva could not count on five players, who are currently considered starters for his team.
Amid the injuries, the Portuguese coach opted to continue fielding Cuiabano as a left winger. However, the only change in relation to the last matches was the entry of Allan, who played in a dislocated position and alternated between midfield and playing on the wings.
At the beginning of the match, Alvinegro had difficulty dealing with the pressure on the ball by Rubro-Negro. On the other hand, as time went by, Renato Paiva's team got used to it and consequently got into the match. After the marking settled in, the current Brazilian champion did not suffer much.
The Alvinegro team threatened in attack through passes behind the defense, but was unable to take advantage due to passing or finishing errors. In the best opportunity, Cuiabano hit a beautiful shot, which went close to the post.
During the final stage, Alvinegro spent more time in the attacking field and did not rely as much on passes. In the midst of this, Renato Paiva's team had the best chance of the match, but saw Marlon Freitas' shot stopped by Rossi's great save.
The classic was proof of one of the biggest problems that the Portuguese has had during his time at the club: taking too long to make substitutions. This was the case with taking too long to take off Rwan Cruz, who was tired and not contributing much to the attack. However, the Portuguese only brought on Nathan Fernandes in the 22nd minute of the second half.

Despite the important absences, Botafogo knew how to adapt to the match and the players knew how to follow the plan imposed by Renato Paiva to the letter. The draw with Flamengo leaves a positive balance due to the way in which the Alvinegro knew how to adapt to a tactical change.
