André Ramalho calls for total focus on the Brasileirão after Corinthians' victory

Corinthians returned to winning ways in the Brazilian Championship and is already aiming for the top of the table. After the 1-0 victory over Fluminense , this Saturday (13/9), at Neo Química Arena, in the 23rd round, defender André Ramalho highlighted the importance of forgetting, for now, the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil and focusing all efforts on the national tournament.
"We've been talking about it for a while now; we obviously want to fight for the top spot in the Brazilian Championship. That was clear from the start of the championship, but we were being very inconsistent, fluctuating a lot. In the midst of all this came the Copa do Brasil, where we were extremely consistent. We won every game, didn't concede a single goal. That showed our inconsistency, right? But, on the other hand, it showed us that we have the ability to do more. And I think we've been doing that in recent games," the defender analyzed.
Ramalho also recalled the team's turning point in the Brasileirão.
"Of course, things have turned around since the Vasco game. We've been unbeaten for a few games now. And we have to keep going like this. I think today, once again, we showed our potential. And we can't stop. Now we only have the Brazilian Championship to focus on. Regardless of how many games we play away or at home, we have to be focused on getting as many points as possible to achieve our season goals," he added.
Goal kick and self-criticismThe defender was directly involved in the play that resulted in Corinthians' goal. Matheuzinho crossed and the ball went in, but Ramalho made sure to give the full-back credit.
"I could have touched the ball. I was a little worried, because sometimes you touch it too hard and you take the ball away. I think I ended up helping to get in the way, but the merit was a great cross from him, and the ball went in," admitted the defender.

With a free week until the next match, Corinthians will have time to recover players and adjust details. The next match will be on Sunday (21/9), at 5:30 pm, against Sport , at Ilha do Retiro.
"And now that's it, using this time we have available to adjust things that need to be adjusted, to evolve even more as a team, as a squad, so that we can finish strong. We have to focus more on the Brazilian Championship. We'll put the Copa do Brasil aside now, only for the end of the year, and correct every possible detail in the time we have to work, so that we can start looking up, and I think we've been doing that very well," concluded Ramalho.
