Two-time Polish champion dies. It's a huge loss for the sport
Grzegorz Otfinowski died on May 7th. He was only 49 years old. He passed away after a long illness, although he was devoted to his beloved sport – volleyball – until the end.
"Grzegorz Otfinowski, who played in Beskid Andrychów, celebrated his greatest sporting successes playing for teams from Jasna Góra. In the 1991/92 season, he won the bronze medal in the Polish Junior Championships with AZS Częstochowa, and a year later he won the vice-championship title. In the 1993/94 season, already as a player of AZS Yawal Częstochowa, he won his first Polish Senior Championship title in his career, and his team also played in the Polish Cup final, losing only to BBTS Włókniarz Bielsko-Biała. The 1994/95 season brought Grzegorz Otfinowski, who played as a receiver, and his team another national championship and participation in the volleyball Champions League" - we read in a memoir on the Radio Andrychów website .

The number of comments and all kinds of reactions on social media under the MKS Andrychów entry is just a small part, although it shows how important a figure Otfinowski was for volleyball. A man who will certainly be impossible to replace.
It is worth adding that Otfinowski, in addition to playing and coaching volleyball, was also a volleyball referee. He even reached the highest level, looking at the format of international events. It was as a referee that Otfinowski participated in the 2014 World Championships.
The funeral will take place on May 10 (i.e. Saturday), at the Parish Cemetery in Andrychów at 2:00 p.m. Half an hour before, the rosary for the deceased.
