In the National Handball Championship there were four Mendoza victories

The local representatives in this handball competition are the Municipality of Maipú and UN Cuyo, both in the women's and men's categories.

Three of the four Mendoza teams achieved victories in the third round of the National A Handball Club Championship for adult clubs, being played in Córdoba.

The competition is contested by both men's and women's teams and is the most important club tournament in the country. The champion of each category will be awarded a spot in the 2026 South-Central Club Championship.

UNCuyo and the Municipality of Maipú, representing Amebal (Mendoza), secured their place in the next round of the quarterfinals with their wins on Wednesday. In the men's division, the municipal team from Maipú also won to advance to the next round, while UNCuyo lost and finished third in its group.

In Alta Gracia, the Maipú girls defeated Alta Barda of Neuquén 34-25 (PT 15-11) with 13 players scoring. Lucía Romero (5 points) and Amparo Benito (5) were the top scorers for the Mendoza team. In Group B, Sedalo (Lanús, Buenos Aires) finished first, while the Maipú girls finished second.

At the IPEF in the capital of Córdoba, the UNCuyo women's team celebrated their 24-21 victory over Belgrano de Córdoba, after trailing 13-12 in the first half. Luciana Bustos scored five goals, becoming the most effective among eight teammates who scored for the Greens. In Group C, Ferro finished first, U21 second, and Belgrano third.

Among the men's teams, Municipalidad de Maipú won 31-29 (PT 16-16) with 8 goals from Juan Pablo Bunader and 6 each from Valentín Faraz and Mateo Giménez. The Maipú team finished second in Group A behind Dorrego (Buenos Aires).

Ferro Carril Oeste defeated UNCuyo 35-32, after the Mendoza team's partial victory by 17-15. Felipe Bouzo was the top scorer for the U team with 10 points. Alya Gracia (Cba) finished first in Group C, Ferro second, and UNCuyo third.

The top two teams from the four zones will play in the quarterfinals to determine the champion, while the four teams that finished third will play in the relegation playoff, where two will be relegated to the National B.

The matches will be held at the Alta Gracia Sports Center and the IPEF in Córdoba, while the Club Atlético Barrio Parque will host the final matchday only.
