Football manager Jürgen Klopp said that growing up in Argentina or Senegal is not the same as growing up in Munich.

Football manager Jürgen Klopp said that growing up in Argentina or Senegal is not the same as growing up in Munich.

The prestigious German coach, former Borussia and Liverpool manager, now leads Red Bull Football at a global level.

A year and a half after leaving Liverpool, the 58-year-old manager became Red Bull's Global Director of Football and declared: "What I loved about football teams was that I treated them equally, 50% of the time, and 50% of the time based on what each person needed, but always in front of the other teammates."

In his coaching career, the German has only managed three Argentines: forwards Lucas Barrios and Diego Klimowicz at Borussia Dortmund in Germany, and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister in his most recent spell at Liverpool.

Continuing along these lines, Klopp stirred controversy with a comment about Argentina: “That was so that those who come after him can't say, 'Why are you treating me like that? You'd never say that to him.' No, of course not, because he's from Argentina, he grew up in a house without windows, and you're from Munich, where everything was fine. Do you want me to treat you the same as him? Really? Bringing all these people from different parts of the world and expecting everyone to react the same… it's impossible. Growing up in Germany is obviously different than growing up in Senegal… it's different.”

“Then we're all together in the locker room, and someone says, 'Well, this is the rule for everyone.' And yes, of course, there are basic things: being on time, doing the easy things, and all that,” he added.
