Sports begin their comeback in Israel: the Euroleague and Eurocup will once again hold matches in the Hebrew country.

Sports begin their comeback in Israel: the Euroleague and Eurocup will once again hold matches in the Hebrew country.

The member clubs of Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) agreed on Tuesday to set December 1, 2025, as the date for the matches of the Israeli teams in the Euroleague and Eurocup , the first and second continental competitions, to be played again in their arenas in Israel , after more than a year of being played in neutral venues due to the armed conflict in Gaza.

The decision, announced by the Euroleague in a statement, was made following a meeting in which the clubs analyzed the situation in Israel and Gaza , in a context marked by the recent peace treaty and initiatives to end the war.

Until the return is effective, Euroleague Basketball will continue to closely monitor developments and maintain "ongoing communication" with local and foreign authorities , visiting teams and the major European basketball associations, ensuring that the safety and well-being of all involved remains the priority .

The organization expressed its optimism regarding the new peace plan and reiterated its confidence in the power of sport "to unite people and communities," reaffirming its commitment to the values of respect, unity, and coexistence promoted by European basketball.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023, Israeli clubs such as Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv have moved their home matches to neutral venues in Europe, such as Belgrade, Serbia, or Sofia, Bulgaria. This measure will remain in place until conditions allow the resumption of competition in Israel.
