Meanwhile, in the American League , the Toronto Blue Jays tied the series 2-2 against the Seattle Mariners after winning 8-2 in Game 4.

Starter Max Scherzer limited the home team to two runs in six innings, while Luis Castillo left early after allowing five runs in three innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his fifth home run of the postseason, a new franchise record.

Andrés Giménez drove in three runs, including a game-winning one in the eighth inning. George Springer also excelled with an RBI double.

With the series tied, Game 5 will be played in Seattle before the playoffs return to Toronto, where the American League champion will be determined.
