Gianni Vasino, historic face of football on TV, has died. Popularity with 90° Minuto

Gianni Vasino, a very popular face of football on TV, first on Rai, especially on 90° Minuto where he was one of the regulars, and then on private broadcasting, has died at the age of 88. He made a historic move for the Ligurian television station Telenord: he recruited Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, then Archbishop of Genoa and then Vatican Secretary of State during the pontificate of Benedict XVI, as a commentator for Sampdoria-Juventus (January 11, 2004) and Genoa-Torino.

Born in Serravalle di Berra, in the Ferrara area, on November 5, 1936, Vasino moved with his family to Sanremo, where he took his first steps in the world of journalism by collaborating with some local newspapers. Then the competition in Rai in 1968. He worked for tg2, where he invented and edited “Come noi”, one of the first programs dedicated to disability.

It was Paolo Valenti who wanted him in the team of 90º minuto, a program with which he achieved great fame. In the large group of famous correspondents on the field, he followed the Lombard teams .

From 1990 to 1995, he dedicated himself to the Rai 3 programme “A tutta B”, dedicated to Serie B, broadcast on Monday afternoons.
