Coni: Buonfiglio is the new President, Diana Bianchedi is the Vice

Coni: Buonfiglio is the new President, Diana Bianchedi is the Vice

Luciano Buonfiglio is the new President of Coni for the four-year period 2025-2028. The Neapolitan manager, the first Neapolitan in the history of the organization and the first to have taken part as an athlete in an Olympics, obtained 47 votes and beat the challengers Luca Pancalli (34 votes), Pierluigi Giancamilli, Carlo Iannelli, Franco Carraro and Mauro Checcoli (0).

Buonfiglio, President of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation since 2005, received the highest number of preferences from those entitled to vote at the end of the first vote (with an absolute majority of the 81 entitled to vote). The Vice President of Coni, Claudia Giordani, Olympic silver medalist at the Innsbruck Games 1976, chaired the assembly: it is the first time in history that this task has been entrusted to a woman.

“Slag with the federations that didn’t vote for me? It’s not our intention, litigiousness is not part of our curriculum. We have to be good at proposing what we want to do. The difference with Malagò? Malagò is Malagò, I am a company manager who has always built a path that I would never have been able to do alone. At the center will be the grassroots associations and sports clubs, not everyone has realized what they have managed to do to guarantee the activities. Low blows during the election campaign? Honestly, when I'm in a competition, I take it for granted. I am truly the representative of sport, someone else could have been a representative of a political party, but I'll stop there".

Stefano Mei (Fidal) and Flavio Roda (Fisi) were left out of the candidates by one vote. The most voted representative of the Federations and associated sports disciplines was Laura Lunetta (sports dance) with 37 votes, followed by Marco Di Paola (Fise, 33) Francesco Ettorre (Fiv), Giovanni Copioli (Fim, 28) and also Diana Bianchedi (36 votes), Francesco Montini (31) and Tania Cagnotto (28). In the athletes quota, Valentina Rodini (rowing) was elected with 39 preferences and Giampaolo Ricci (basketball) with 10, while in the technicians quota, the most voted representative was Elisabet Spina (football), elected with 46 preferences. Representing the regional committees, Marco Riva was elected with 57 votes, for the sports promotion bodies Juri Morico (Opes) was chosen - with 55 preferences and as representative of the provincial delegates Domenico Ignozza with 43 votes.
