Football, District Cup final: Sarladais reservists have taken their revenge

Revenge was in the air on Saturday evening, after the 2024 final won 4-1 by the Ribéracois. Hence the great commitment, sometimes too much, shown from the start by both teams. But few chances in the first quarter of an hour. We could feel the Sarladais team play more rehearsed but that didn't stop the Ribéracois from looking dangerous with a shot from Valentin Garnaud (20th).

Then, on the half-hour mark, the match got heated. Paul Boutier, well launched deep, found himself alone in front of Guillaume Blanc but the Sarlat-la-Canéda goalkeeper made the save (31st). CAR was still threatening with a header from Léo Landrodie into Blanc's gloves but, on a loose ball in the corner of the area, a cross to the far post was victoriously taken over by Damien Maury (0-1, 39th).

The break as soon as it resumes

And FCSM started the second half strongly. Théo Peubrier broke through and crossed for the break, which Matisse Boutry scored (0-2, 48th). Overwhelmed, the Sarlat goalkeeper sprained his ankle and left his teammates, replaced in goal by Maury!

Ribéracois had a chance to get back into the game, but, too messy and overusing long balls, they didn't look dangerous. And it was Théo Peubrier, on the contrary, who logically closed the score with a fine strike at the end of added time.
