FIFA reveals total transfer fees, the figure is monstrous

Like every year, the transfer market stirs up clubs all summer long. But this year, more than any other, transfers have broken all records. The prize goes to England with some colossal transfers, particularly from Liverpool. Ekitiké, Isack, Wirtz... Three players for almost 400 million. In total, English teams including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, etc. have accumulated 3.5 billion in spending.
More than 12,000 international transfers were made in men's professional football during the first half of 2025, a new record. Transfer fees paid amounted to $9.76 billion, the highest amount ever recorded for this time of year. For comparison, this sum represents an increase of more than 50% compared to the same period in 2024. With €8.38 billion in transfer fees for the summer alone, the 2025 summer transfer window will go down in history as the highest-spending period.
In France, with €662 million in purchases, Ligue 1 was the lowest-spending league in the Big 5 this summer, just behind La Liga (€684 million). But unlike the Spanish clubs, Ligue 1 players also sold a lot: €965 million in sales during this transfer window, almost as much as in the Bundesliga (€1,010 million) or Serie A (€1,102 million).
This trend is also evident in women's football. During the summer transfer window, €10.56 million was invested, a historic amount, up 80% from last season.
