Mutua Madrid Open 2025: technology, data, and a security robot to protect a major sporting event

Mutua Madrid Open 2025: technology, data, and a security robot to protect a major sporting event

Any gathering of people increases the risk and requires increased security. An event of the caliber of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 , which attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees over 14 consecutive days, is a logistical and operational challenge that requires a particularly meticulous deployment.

In addition to the sporting and technical demands of the tournament itself, there were also medical teams, law enforcement agencies, and private escort for many VIPs, with more than 330 security personnel deployed. This year's event shattered its attendance records and was also rocked by the nationwide blackout on April 28th and its aftermath.

For a tournament of this magnitude to run smoothly, a hybrid security model like Prosegur Security's is essential. This system is based on a combination of advanced technology, data analysis, and the strategic value of the human factor. "Organizing a tournament of this magnitude involves coordinating multiple aspects: logistics, customer service, security, and technology, all with the utmost precision. That's why we trust Prosegur Security," explains Gerard Tsobanian , CEO of the Mutua Madrid Open. "We need a partner that combines professionalism and technological capability, and Prosegur more than meets those two requirements."

The Mutua Madrid Open was the launch of Yellow Pro , the new security robot from Prosegur Security, equipped with high-definition 360º cameras, smart and thermal sensors - it detects smoke and gases, to identify risks such as fire - and which reports directly via 5G to intelligent control centers (iSOC), “The security guard no longer just observes: he interprets, anticipates and acts connected to a technological ecosystem designed to maximize operational productivity,” explains José Gil , general manager for Spain and Portugal at Prosegur Security.

But what exactly can Yellow Pro do? It can scan dangerous objects with infrared light, measure temperature, detect gases, perform autonomous patrols in different terrains and environments, climb stairs, and carry loads of up to 14 kilos.

During the tournament, the security guards not only covered access points or visible areas: they acted as connected nodes within a digital security ecosystem. Equipped with the POPS platform, they reported incidents, performed technical checks, and maintained a constant flow of information with the iSOC, allowing for greater precision and agility in their actions. Their presence extended from locker rooms to private rooms, including technical areas, VIP zones, and evacuation points.

The case of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 is an example of how security has ceased to be an invisible service and has become a strategic asset. “The experience of the players, the public, and our partners also depends on everything running smoothly and discreetly. Security, when well managed, is almost invisible . That's the excellence we seek for the tournament, and what we find at Prosegur,” concludes Tsobanian.
