Duplantis lifts the sky by one centimeter again: a new record of 6.28 meters

Armand Duplantis raises the bar one centimeter higher. At home, in front of his fans, he set a new record at the Diamond League event with a jump of 6.28 meters, the twelfth best time under his name.

He continues to push boundaries and expand his horizons, having already set a record in February, which he dwarfed today on his first attempt in front of a devoted audience of their national hero. Duplantis had promised to complete this new feat at home, and encouraged the crowd to support him from the moment his name was announced over the PA system. And the crowd that filled Stockholm's Olympic Stadium, built for the 1912 Olympic Games, responded enthusiastically to every attempt. In a historic venue like this, where more records have been broken than ever before, there hadn't been a celebration like this since 1997.

Kurtis Marschall was also in the competition, but the Australian, world bronze medalist in 2023, settled at 5.90 meters and then had three failed attempts above the six-meter mark. Dutchman Menno Vloon took the bronze at 5.80 meters. Space was then given to the local idol, who raised the bar to 6.28 meters for his latest attempt at the sky. The 25-year-old athlete once again made clearing this height look easy, following a lightning-fast run and a perfect jump to clear the bar.

A success he celebrated with the entire crowd, taking off his jersey and walking around the stadium to find and hug his family. Duplantis celebrated the success, but is already thinking bigger, as he claims he can reach 6.30m before the end of 2025.
