Tally vacates Derry post after one season

Paddy Tally has stepped down from his role as Derry senior football manager after just eight months at the helm.
The Tyrone native was appointed as Mickey Harte’s successor last November for what was set to be a three-year term.
The Oak Leafers suffered relegation from Division 1 of the Allianz Football League this season before going on to display some improved performances in the All-Ireland SFC group stages which saw them narrowly missing out on the knock-out stages.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that Tally was set to part ways with the team and he released the following statement yesterday evening confirming his departure.
"I want to thank my management, backroom and medical team and most importantly the players for their commitment and dedication over the past season," he stated
"Thank you to Derry County Board and the staff in Owenbeg and Celtic Park for their hospitality and support. I wish the Derry senior footballers the best for the future".
Derry GAA thanked Tally for his contribution to the team by saying: "Paddy brought integrity and energy to the role along with a deep commitment to the players and the county. His efforts to develop the squad, build a strong team environment, and guide a group of emerging players into senior football are greatly appreciated."
