Seven-in-a-row SHC triumphs for Naas and Middletown

Naas continue to dominate the club hurling scene in Kildare after defeating Maynooth by 3-15 to 0-16 in Newbridge this afternoon to clinch their seventh county senior championship title in-a-row.

Killian Harrington and Ferran O’Sullivan struck goals in the first-half that helped move the holders towards a 2-9 to 0-6 advantage at half-time.

Ciaran Dunne and Oran Byrne sailed over some early second-half points for Maynooth, but Cian Boran’s goal would make it a 10-point and, from there, the points of Jack Sheridan (0-8) helped to see Naas comfortably over the line.

In Armagh, Middletown completed also completed a seven-in-a-row success of the county senior hurling championships this afternoon by edging out Keady.

It finished 0-21 to 0-19 at the Box-It Athletic Grounds where the champions had trailed by four at the halfway point before producing the goods in the second-half for another Jimmy Carlisle Cup which marks their club’s 21st county SHC triumph.
