Ridiculous Last Gasp Two Pointer Helps Naomh Conaill To Donegal County Title Triumph

A piece of magic saw Naomh Conaill come back from the brink to win the Donegal Senior Football Championship on Sunday.

The club competed in their eighth Donegal SFC final in nine years when they got the better of Gaoth Dobhair by a score of 2-18 to 1-19 in Ballybofey.

The victory was far from routine and looked beyond their reach at two points behind, with the game approaching the finish in the second-half.

However Shea Malone had other ideas, retrieving the kick-out with less than two minutes of additional time remaining.

After a quick one-two, Malone found space and sent his strike from distance between the posts to level the scores at 1-13 apiece.

From there they took the intiative, Max Campbell firing home a goal to put daylight between the teams during extra-time.

Gaoth Dobhair battled hard but Naomh Conaill had too much.

Finbarr Roarty, who had a brilliant debut season for Donegal at intercounty level, paid tribute to Malone's clutch strike after the win.

"I seen that they thought it was over, the green flares were on but we managed a way to fight back.
