Kerry football legend Mickey Ned O’Sullivan is celebrating after winning €16,400 in his local club’s weekly lotto.
The former Kerry forward and manager scooped the Kenmare Shamrocks jackpot last weekend and was presented with his cheque during the week. A post on the Kenmare Shamrocks Facebook page read: “Kenmare Shamrocks made Mickey Ned O'Sullivan a happy man yesterday when he received his winning Lotto cheque of €16,400. Mickey correctly picked the four winning numbers of last Sunday night's lotto draw (2, 12, 20, 28).”
Speaking to The Kerryman newspaper, Mickey Ned said: “It’s nice to win anything, you know. I probably have a ticket in there every year since it began and this is the first time I have won.”
Mickey Ned won three All-Ireland SFC medals as a player in 1975 (when he was captain but missed out on receiving the Sam Maguire Cup due to injury), ’78 and ’79 before managing Kerry at all levels as well as Limerick.
The new Kenmare Shamrocks jackpot is set at €10,000.
