Cathy Freeman is spotted out with her mystery man AGAIN just after making a rare public appearance in front of thousands of fans

Aussie Olympic superstar Cathy Freeman was spotted at the airport this weekend with the same mystery man she was pictured holding hands with last year, after splitting from her ex-husband, James Murch, after 15 years of marriage.

Freeman, who won gold in the women’s 400m at the 2000 Summer Olympics, was spotted walking through the airport while on her way to Sydney to watch the Rabbitohs seal a 20-16 victory against the Eels on Saturday.

The sprinter, 52, made a very rare public appearance at the Allianz Stadium for the match, turning out to ring the club’s legacy bell ahead of the Indigenous Round fixture.

She took to the footy field alongside Rabbitohs legend Greg Inglis and posed for snaps with several fans, Bunnies superstar Latrell Mitchell and Jack Wighton.

Prior to the game, the sprinting icon was seen travelling to Sydney with the mystery man, who she had been pictured with last year, a month after she split from her husband, Murch.

Murch, a stockbroker from Melbourne, and Freeman divorced in August 2024.

Freeman, who is based in Melbourne, had been in Sydney this weekend to watch the Rabbitohs beat the Eels as part of the NRL's Indigenous Round

‘After 15 years of marriage, we have unfortunately separated. We continue co-parenting and this is our greatest priority,’ Freeman and Murch had written in a joint statement.

'We continue sharing a professional and working partnership through Estrella Sports Management.’

Freeman was later seen on a romantic getaway with her new beau a month later.

Freeman donned a linen dress and her unnamed new beau sported a pair of shorts, a pink shirt and a pair of sandals as they walked along the seaside in Cairns while holding hands.

The pair were again spotted at an event in April, during a Nike After Dark event in Sydney.

The pair were again spotted holding hands as they arrived with a friend. Freeman grinned from ear to ear as they entered the venue, with the Olympian being a guest of honour.

Freeman has previously made headlines for her love life. While she rarely steps out in the public eye, the sprinter previously held a long-term relationship with athletics coach Nic Bideau. He worked with Freeman during the 2000 Olympics, notably helping her clinch gold even after the conclusion of their relationship.

She then married Alexander ‘Sandy’ Bodecker, with their marriage coming to an end in 2003, before Freeman went on to date Joel Edgerton before their split in 2005.

Freeman had been invited to watch the Souths play this weekend at the Allianz Stadium, and notably rang the club's Legacy Bell before the match

A champion of Indigenous communities, Freeman also posed for snaps with Bunnies legend Greg Inglis (pictured top, second from right) and Latrell Mitchell (pictured top left)

The pair celebrated the beginning of the NRL's Gadhu Gathering, after they were famously pictured celebrating the Bunnies 2014 NRL Grand Final win in the changing rooms 11 years ago

She would marry Murch in 2009 and have a daughter together.

Freeman, who hails from Queensland, is lauded as one of the greatest Aussie Athletes in history and was the first Indigenous Australian to become a Commonwealth Games gold medallist when she helped claim victory in the 4x100m relay in Auckland back in 1990, at the age of 16.

The 52-year-old would later go on to call time on her glittering career in 2003.

Back in 2005, Freeman was, in fact, named the Cronulla Sharks No 1 fan. But it also appears she has a soft spot for the Rabbitohs too, with the Olympian being honoured during this weekend’s Gadhu Gathering by the Bunnies.

Freeman and Inglis posed for a now iconic photo inside the Rabbitohs dressing room after the Bunnies won the 2014 premiership, with club chief Tallis Duncan stating that it was important to honour the legacy of Freeman and Inglis - who played for the Souths between 2011 and 2019.

She had been invited to address the playing group before the NRL Grand Final 11 years ago.

‘I entered the room not long after Michael Maguire had spoken to them. He was very strong and clear with his messaging and very intimidating. It’s an experience I have never had since,’ she said to The Sydney Morning Herald, speaking on the Bunnies win.

‘I spoke to the players about trusting the process and trusting each other and having that trust in the coach. The photo with Greg after the game was such a happy time. It was really nice to know I had played a small role.

‘I live in Melbourne, but I still follow footy, and I’ve emotionally attached myself to the Rabbitohs because they were the first team to invite me into their home, and allowed me to be a part of their journey and success.’
