The last inter-county senior football managerial vacancy was filled last night with Declan Bonner’s appointment in Fermanagh.

The former Donegal player and manager was ratified as Kieran Donnelly’s successor at a county board meeting in Enniskillen. It came after the current Erne Gaels boss was the only candidate interviewed for the post last Wednesday night following ex-U20 manager Maurice McLaughlin’s withdrawal.

Bonner won an All-Ireland SFC medal as a player in 1992 and later managed Donegal to back-to-back Ulster SFC titles in 2018 and '19. The Na Rossa clubman guided Belleek outfit Erne Gaels to their first New York Cup success in 43 years last year. His backroom team includes former Donegal player, Paul Brennan.

Meanwhile, former Sligo manager Daithí Hand and Peter Galvin have returned as joint managers of the Fermanagh senior hurlers, having been coaches under the recently-departed Joe Baldwin in 2024.
