Jason Forde has revealed how Tipperary used a disappointing 2024 as motivation for their sensational All-Ireland SHC success.

Tipp were a different animal this year as they demolished hot favourites Cork in the final to claim their 29th Liam MacCarthy Cup.

“I don’t think motivation was going to be an issue anyway. We got it in the neck from a lot of people in Tipp. We’re a mad hurling county and people don’t be shy about letting you know what you haven’t done so well,” the veteran sharpshooter told reporters at this week’s ‘Fuel your Game’ launch in Croke Park.

“There was huge motivation — just go back and put in a seriously hard pre-season and give yourself the confidence that you’re going to be able to compete with these teams.”

The 31-year-old Silvermines clubman looks set to give it another year in the blue and gold, adding: “There are no decisions made yet.

“I suppose we’re in the middle of the club championship and stuff like that, but I’m sure I’ll be meeting with Liam (Cahill) in the next couple of weeks and you’d be obviously willing and hopefully able to go again.

“That’s a conversation you’d have to have with Liam and the management team and see. But I’d definitely be raring to go for next year.

“When you win like that and I suppose the age profile of the team and you’ve just come off such a high, it would be hard to leave that behind.

“Once the body’s good and you are injury-free, why not stay at it as long as you can? Because when you do close the door on it, that’ll be it.”
