Fenerbahçe Beko player Scottie Wilbekin's statement on the national team

In his statement to an AA correspondent, Wilbekin reminded that the past process had ended in a way he did not want.

The 32-year-old basketball player, emphasizing that Türkiye has played a significant role in his career, said, "I came to this country and spent three seasons playing for Darüşşafaka. I'll be entering my fourth season playing for Fenerbahçe. During this time, I've experienced so many special moments and successes in this country. One of those special moments was definitely being able to play for the Turkish National Team. I don't want to go back to the past, but ultimately, this situation ended in a way I never wanted. I want to emphasize that I've always worn this jersey with great pride, and if the opportunity arises, I'd always want to play for the Turkish National Team."

Wilbekin, who stated that they had a historic season with Fenerbahçe Beko, noted the following regarding his return from injury:

"It was an unfortunate period for me, but unfortunately, injuries are part of this game, this job. The important thing is to overcome these challenges with strength and reach a level where you can continue your goals, and I strived for that. Of course, my greatest source of solace and happiness was the fantastic season my teammates had. I had mixed emotions, because I wanted to be on the pitch with them and compete alongside them. But ultimately, it was a very good season for my team. My biggest goal is to return to the pitch in the best possible way next season and be with them in winning new trophies."

"As champions of all cups, a difficult season awaits us"

Wilbekin stated that the new season will be more challenging as they are a team that has won all the trophies.

Wilbekin, emphasizing his delight at extending his contract with Fenerbahçe, said, "Turkey holds a very important place in my career. I've spent three seasons at Fenerbahçe. While my last season was certainly unlucky, I feel a strong sense of belonging here after all these years. I feel like I have a lot of work ahead of me in the Fenerbahçe Beko jersey. This is how I'm preparing myself for the new season, both physically and mentally, with this goal in mind."

The experienced player emphasized their readiness for the challenge next season, saying, "Next season, we will be a team that all teams will see as their target match and their target opponent. As champions of all the cups, a difficult season awaits us, but it's a huge challenge. My teammates and I will be ready for it. We always need to take it one step at a time, always focusing on the next match. We want to go into the season with the best possible preparation, then maintain our form during the most critical periods of the season and achieve our goals."

Wilbekin concluded his remarks with the following statement regarding Fenerbahçe fans:

"A historic season has passed, and of course, they played a big part in this success. We'll set out again next season with big goals, and they will be our biggest supporters in this endeavor. I've missed meeting them personally, and I can't wait for my first match against them."
