«This is the time to set out in search of a new life»

For the second time, the Beira-Mar management will try to obtain today, in a new extraordinary General Assembly, the necessary votes to establish a Sports Society by Quotas (SDQ) for the club's senior football starting next season. The president, Nuno Quintaneiro, understands the fear that this change may generate among members, because he recognizes that Beira-Mar experienced «what must have been the worst case of a SAD in Portugal», but says that this is «the moment to fill ourselves with courage, overcome the trauma and set out in search of a new life».
And he explains why: «The creation of an SDQ for the management of senior football is crucial for us to be able to capture the essential financial investment to professionalise and leverage senior football, enhance the work that is carried out in youth football, release crucial revenues for the development of the club's sporting modalities and guarantee the mechanisms that allow the settlement of the club's liabilities», argues the “auri-negro” director.
