Swiss cyclist Jasmin Liechti wins fifth edition of the women's Tour of Portugal

Swiss cyclist Jasmin Liechti (NEXETIS) today won the fifth edition of the women's Tour of Portugal, after the fifth stage was won by Frenchwoman India Grangier (Coop-Repsol), who finished second overall.

The 2024 champion was part of a group that stood out twenty kilometers from the finish line and prevailed at the end of the 89.2 kilometers between Lisbon and Póvoa de Santa Iria, ahead of her compatriot Océane Mahé (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), second with the same 02:22.52 hours.

Canadian Kiara Lylyk (Winspace Orange Seal) was third in the fifth and final stage, 10 seconds behind the winner, the same difference recorded by Jasmin Liechti, who was fifth.

The 22-year-old Swiss rider thus achieved the biggest victory of her career in stage races, after being crowned runner-up in the under-23 world time trial in 2024.

The NEXETIS cyclist was flanked on the podium by Grangier, the champion of the last edition who moved up to second place, and by the American Heidi Franz (Cynisca), with both finishing 16 seconds behind Jasmin Liechti.

Olympian Raquel Queirós (Atum General-Tavira-Farense), winner of the inaugural edition of the women's Tour of Portugal, was the best Portuguese rider, finishing fifth, 24 seconds behind, after having been seventh in the final round.
