Striker Pablo is attacked by a Sport fan during an invasion of the training center

Striker Pablo experienced moments of tension this Wednesday (16), in Recife (PE). The former Athletico player, who currently defends Sport, was attacked by fans in an invasion of the Pernambuco club's training center.

Members of Sport's organized fan group protested the team's poor performance in the Brasileirão Série A. The team is bottom of the table, has yet to win, and has only three points from 12 matches.

Videos circulating on social media show the moment Pablo is slapped in the chest and pulled by one of the fans, who makes several threats against the athletes.

"We're going to make your lives miserable. We're going to get you. Do you think this is a joke? No one's joking around here. Everyone here has a criminal record. Understand?" says the same man who assaulted Pablo.

The striker was one of Sport's bets for the season, but he is injured and has not been on the field since June 1st.

In an official statement, Sport condemned the invasion of the training center and described the fans' behavior as "absolutely unacceptable." The club says it will take all appropriate measures to identify and punish those responsible.

A product of Athletico's youth academy, Pablo had a mixed bag of ups and downs at the Baixada club. He reached his peak in 2018, when he was the team's top scorer in their Copa Sudamericana triumph.

In 2019, he was sold to São Paulo, in one of the largest deals in the club's history, for R$26.6 million. Without establishing himself at the São Paulo club, he returned to CT do Caju in 2022, where he participated in the team's Libertadores runner-up campaign.

The striker, however, didn't escape the club's dismal 2024 season, with relegation to the Brazilian Serie B. Considered one of the group's leaders, he was removed from the squad, along with Nikão, Fernandinho, and Thiago Heleno.

In February, he was released and allowed to sign a contract with Sport. He left Athletico with impressive historical records. He is the sixth-most capped player for the red-and-black team, with 321 appearances, and the tenth-highest scorer, with 72 goals.
