Spanish rider Álex Márquez (Ducati Desmosedici GP24), runner-up in the MotoGP world championship, stated today that his goal for the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend in Portimão , is to reach the podium.

With second place mathematically guaranteed, the Gresini Racing rider, a satellite team of Ducati, who won the last race in Malaysia, warned that each Grand Prix is ​​different and that he is very happy to be in Portugal, a country with which he said he has "a great bond".

“It’s true that when you leave MotoGP it’s difficult to come back, but nothing is impossible. I think he [Miguel Oliveira] can also have a very good career in Superbikes. He’ll have a competitive bike and will surely fight for the title next year, and from there the future will tell,” he stated.

Asked about his brother, world champion Marc Márquez, who will miss the last two races of the season (Portugal and Valencia) due to a shoulder injury, Álex said that he is recovering to be in good shape for 2026.

Regarding the upcoming season, in which he will be able to ride a factory bike identical to his brother's for the first time, Álex promises a fight to the very end for the championship title.
