It was an emotional speech with strong words that José Faria gave in the press room at the António Coimbra da Mota Stadium alongside Paulo Lopo, president of Estrela da Amadora SAD.

"It won't be easy for those who are gratuitously slanderous. I'm here to show my face, to confront people. I have no problem whatsoever in going after players, whoever they may be, from Nani to Mamede... I don't accept anyone messing with the symbol of Estrela da Amadora. Now, don't come asking me to condone this type of behavior because I won't allow it. It's been a difficult year, in which we've had a clear lack of leaders, we have to improve and we will improve, with or without Faria", he began by saying.

On the other hand, the current coach of the Tricolor team made a point of reinforcing that his continuity at Reboleira is not yet certain: "The president gave an interview this week, in which he said that I had already signed, I haven't signed anything yet. The president invited me to sign, he spoke to me, my confidence with him is that it's not a piece of paper that will change anything. If the president wants me to continue here next year, I will continue, but if he wants me to leave today, I will leave today!"

In a speech marked by emotion, the 38-year-old coach made a point of remembering that he has risen through hard work and that he is keen to "continue in football".

"I started out at the bottom, at Estrela da Amadora, in youth football, living in a rented room opposite the stadium, until I was able to be here today where I am. Today was really bad. I felt ashamed because a club the size of Estrela da Amadora definitely doesn't deserve to go through this."

However, he warned: "We cannot be ungrateful to a person [Lopo] who gave so much to Estrela, who restructured the club, who brought the club to the first league."

Finally, Faria valued the work that was done throughout the season.

"The players earned these points with merit and scored more points than their opponents. It's tough to leave [the championship] like this. We know we don't do everything right. Now, our innermost being, our will, our desire is the purest there is and when that's the case, the instigators, those evil forces that distort words and want Estrela to fall, will have to spend another night, another sleepless holiday and have to swallow hard because Estrela is once again relegated to the first division", he concluded.
