In an intense game from start to finish, Porto and Al Ahly drew 4-4 this Tuesday (23), at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, in the third round of the Club World Cup. The two teams, which are part of Group A of the tournament, were eliminated, but closed the competition with a good performance. Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, Pepê and Samu scored the goals for the Portuguese club, while Abou Ali, three times, and Bem Romdhane scored for the Egyptians.

THE GAME

The first half was very lively. Al Ahly opened the scoring in the 14th minute. After a good pass from Fathy, Abou Ali crossed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper to score. Porto did not let it get to them and responded with a great goal. Rodrigo Mora dribbled past the opposing goalkeeper to level the score in the 22nd minute. The Egyptians managed to score again, but were flagged for offside. The pace of the match continued at a frenetic pace until, in the final minutes, Zizo was brought down in the area and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Abou Ali beat the goalkeeper to the spot and put Al Ahly back in front.

And the second half brought an even better chapter to this battle. Brazilian William Gomes opened the second half with a beautiful shot from outside the area, equalizing the score for the Portuguese team in the 4th minute. But in the very next play, Abou Ali received a great cross and headed in his third goal, and for his team, in the match. And two minutes later, Samu completed a corner kick to tie the match (once again). Even so, the pace did not slow down and, in the 21st minute, Ben Romdhane received the ball freely at the edge of the area and hit it into the right corner of Cláudio Ramos' goal, scoring Al Ahly's fourth goal. With Porto launching themselves into attack, the Egyptians had many chances to close the game on the counterattack, but they wasted them. So, if you don't score, you'll score. Pepê took a chance from outside the area in the 43rd minute, beating the opposing goalkeeper and scoring the fourth goal for the Portuguese team.

NEXT COMMITMENTS

With both teams eliminated from the competition, they will only return to the field in the 2025/26 season of both calendars.
