How much will the Club World Cup finalists receive in prize money from FIFA?

The Club World Cup is entering its final week of competition. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Fluminense will face off in search of the world champion title, which will be decided next Sunday, the 13th. In addition, the teams will be fighting to win the last remaining millions offered by the competition. Throughout the tournament, FIFA has distributed exorbitant sums to the participating teams – and promises an even greater amount to the winner.
Just by reaching the semi-finals of the tournament, each of the four remaining teams won a whopping US$21 million (R$116.5 million). This sum is in addition to other prizes that were awarded throughout the competition, such as reaching the quarter-finals, which earned US$13.125 million (R$72.8 million); the US$7.5 million (R$41.9 million) for advancing to the round of 16; and fixed amounts for performance in the group stage – US$2 million (R$11 million) for a win and US$1 million (R$5.5 million) for a draw.
Participation alone also brought in millions of dollars for the teams. Fluminense, for example, as a South American club, earned US$15.21 million (R$84.3 million) at the beginning of the championship just for qualifying. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea, as European teams, earned more. The French team received US$31.9 million (R$177.33 million), while the Spanish and English teams received US$36.6 million (R$203.46 million) and US$29.6 million (R$164.55 million), respectively.
The amount of money awarded for the final varies depending on the result. The team that becomes world champion will receive an additional US$40 million. The runner-up will receive slightly less, US$30 million.
Currently, after qualifying for the semifinals, the four teams that have earned the most are still in the tournament. Real Madrid is the team that has earned the most – in total, the Merengue club has received US$84.82 million. It is followed by Paris Saint-Germain, which has already earned US$76.9 million, and Chelsea, which was just behind, with US$74.59 million. Fluminense, the Brazilian team with the best performance, has US$60.84 million so far. You can see how much each team has received in Estadão.
The Club World Cup semi-finals begin this Tuesday, with the match between Fluminense and Chelsea. The match starts at 4pm, Brasília time. At the same time, on Wednesday, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain will face each other. The final, played in a single game, will take place on Sunday, the 13th, also at 4pm.
