FIFA will pay stratospheric amount to Botafogo

Botafogo secured a hefty prize at the Club World Cup after beating PSG 1-0 on Thursday (June 19) in Los Angeles. The triumph earned the Rio de Janeiro club US$2 million (approximately R$11 million), the amount awarded for each victory in the group stage of the competition.
With this result, Botafogo has accumulated a total of US$ 19.21 million, equivalent to approximately R$ 105.5 million, adding up all the prize money received in the tournament so far. The victory over the current European champion also brought the team closer to qualifying for the round of 16, which guarantees an additional US$ 7.5 million (approximately R$ 41.2 million) to those who qualify.
Currently, Botafogo can even lose to Atlético de Madrid by up to two goals and still advance to the next round, as long as PSG does not beat Seattle Sounders — a scenario considered unlikely. This possibility reinforces the black and white team's good position in the group and the sporting and financial impact of the victory obtained on North American soil.
The prize money for the Super Club World Cup is structured as follows: US$2 million for a win in the group stage and US$1 million for a draw. Qualifying for the round of 16 pays US$7.5 million, while the quarter-finals guarantee US$13.125 million. The semi-finals pay out US$21 million, with the runner-up receiving US$30 million and the champion pocketing US$40 million.
The competition also provides for different amounts for participation, depending on the confederation to which the club belongs. UEFA representatives, for example, receive between US$12.81 million and US$38.19 million. CONMEBOL clubs are entitled to US$15.21 million, while those from CONCACAF, Asia and Africa receive US$9.55 million. Auckland City, representing Oceania, receives US$3.58 million.
