Dorival Júnior analyzes Corinthians' victory over Ceará in the Brasileirão

Corinthians achieved an important victory on Wednesday night (16), beating Ceará 1-0 at Arena Castelão, in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship. After the game, coach Dorival Júnior analyzed the performance of the black and white team, valuing the result, but keeping his feet on the ground regarding the club's moment in the competition.
At the press conference, Dorival acknowledged the importance of the victory, but highlighted that the team still needs to improve.
"It's just a good result, nothing more. We're aware that our points tally in the championship is still far below what we need. We'll work to find our best path again and fight for the top of the table," he said.
Despite the away victory, the coach also highlighted that the team had already been showing good results in previous matches, and that the result was the result of the efforts of the younger players who have been gaining ground.
"This result rewards the work these kids have been doing. We already deserved victories in other matches due to the volume, possession and creation we had," he added.
Dorival also commented on the difficulties encountered during the game, especially related to the conditions of the pitch at Castelão, and took the opportunity to praise Ceará, the club he managed in the past.
"It was a very difficult and balanced game. The passing was compromised, and the ball was very lively. A better pitch would certainly have provided a spectacle more worthy of this level. I have a lot of respect for Ceará and everything I experienced here," he said.
Corinthians' more defensive stance after opening the scoring was also discussed at the press conference. The coach explained that the coaching staff had already prepared for a scenario in which the opponent would attack, even with key absences.
"We knew that Ceará exploits the wings a lot and puts a lot of balls into the box. We studied this and worked to protect ourselves. Towards the end of the game, we lost a bit of our aggression, which is natural, but we stayed organized and fought for every ball until the end," he concluded.
With this result, Timão can breathe in the Brasileirão, but remains aware of the need for improvement to aim for higher flights this season.
