Coritiba has a new number 9 for the Série B. Striker Gustavo Coutinho left the number 91 and assumed the traditional 9 in the victory against Volta Redonda in the last round of Série B.

The exchange was possible thanks to the departure of striker Júnior Brumado , the previous owner of the number 9, who returned to Midtjylland, Denmark, after Coxa did not exercise the option to buy the player provided for in the contract.

Gustavo Coutinho was also signed by Coritiba on loan from Sport. The player started the Série B competition as a starter in the first eleven rounds, having scored two goals and given one assist.

However, Coutinho recently lost his position to Dellatorre, who recovered from injury, regained his starting position and scored both goals in the Coxa-Branca victory over Volta Redonda.

The number 9 shirt has weight in the history of Coxa, which has had goalscorers such as Keirrison, Bill, Índio, Tuta, and many others who have left their mark on the club. However, the recent history is negative.

Coming on loan from Midtjylland in Denmark, Brumado made 31 appearances for Coritiba.

Right from the start, he performed well in the Campeonato Paranaense, scoring five goals in ten games.

However, Pinho's performance declined throughout the season. His last match for Coxa was in July 2023, against Fluminense, in Série A. After that, he was removed from the main group and, in January 2024, his contract was terminated. Shortly after, he returned to Portugal to play for Estrela Amadora.

In total, for Coritiba, there were 26 games and five goals, all in the State Championship.

For now, Léo Gamalho was Coritiba's last great number 9. With 92 games and 40 goals scored, he stayed at the club for two seasons, achieved important milestones and left with a lot of affection from the fans.

Gamalho was a key player in the promotion to Série A in 2021, being one of the protagonists of the campaign. The following year, he remained at the club and was once again the top scorer of the season, this time helping Coxa to remain in the elite of Brazilian football.

He ended his time surpassing Alex and becoming Coritiba's fifth highest scorer of the century. A name that left its mark.
