Corinthians suffers from a lack of attackers and sees the youth academy make up for the lack of goals

Corinthians ' attack is experiencing a period of low productivity, which is already worrying the coaching staff and fans. With the exception of Gui Negão, a youngster who came through the youth academy, no other forward in the squad has scored since July 30, when Memphis Depay decided the derby against Palmeiras in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16.

Since then, the team has played ten matches and the goals have been restricted to midfielders, defenders and Gui Negão himself, who scored four times in that period and established himself as one of the few attacking solutions available.

In fact, the most emblematic drought is Yuri Alberto's. After all, the team's top scorer this season, the center forward hasn't found the net since May 21st, against Novorizontino, in the Copa do Brasil. That's 124 days without a goal, a period marked by serious injuries: a fractured vertebra and, later, inguinal hernia surgery.

Other players are also experiencing a goal drought. Vitinho, signed in the last transfer window, has yet to score in seven games for the club. Kayke, also from the youth academy, remains unmarked in six professional appearances. Ángel Romero faces the longest goalless streak: 151 days and 21 matches since his last goal, on April 24th against Racing in the Copa Sudamericana.

The list also includes Spaniard Héctor Hernández, who hasn't played since June 12th and is training separately awaiting negotiations. His last contribution was on April 30th, but since then he has played only six games without success.

Despite the team's lack of attacking effectiveness, Corinthians has five wins, two draws, and three losses since Depay's last goal. During that period, the team scored 13 times and conceded nine goals. This performance was sustained much more by the collective than by the inspiration of the attackers.
