Canoeing/European Track Championships: Fernando Pimenta champion in K1 1,000 for the fourth time

Portuguese Fernando Pimenta won the gold medal for the fourth time today in the K1 1,000 metres event at the European Canoe Sprint Championships, the 2025 edition of which will take place in Racice, in the Czech Republic. Fernando Pimenta, who had already been crowned European champion in that event in 2016, 2017 and 2018, won the A final with a time of 3.25,096 minutes, beating the Swede Martin Nathell by 913 hundredths and the Hungarian Balint Kopasz by 923, who came second and third.
The 35-year-old canoeist from Ponte de Lima won his ninth medal in the K1 1,000 meter event (four gold, two silver and three bronze) at the European Speed Championships, the first for the Portuguese representation in the current edition.
