Boca's defeat ends South Americans' unbeaten run at the Club World Cup

The South Americans' unbeaten run in the Club World Cup has ended. Boca Juniors' defeat to Bayern Munich was the first for a South American team in the competition. Consequently, the result marked the first European victory against an Argentine or Brazilian team.
So far, the South Americans have entered the field ten times, with six victories, three draws and one defeat for the Xeneize. On six occasions, the clash was against Europeans, with two triumphs, for Botafogo and Flamengo , three draws and one defeat.
Now the Brazilians want to keep the strength of the continent alive and remain undefeated. This Saturday (21), Fluminense faces Ulsan Hyundai to try to keep the record in the second round. A positive result for the Tricolor could bring the four representatives of Brazil closer to qualifying together for the next phase of the World Cup.
Before the end of the group stage, the South American teams will face the Europeans twice more, both in the final round. Botafogo, who have already beaten PSG, will face Atlético de Madrid to secure their place in the next stage. River Plate will face Inter Milan in the closing stages of the group stage. The other teams will face opponents from North America, on two occasions, from Africa, Asia and Oceania.
