Benfica thrash Auckland City 6-0

Benfica thrashed New Zealand side Auckland City 6-0 this Friday in a match played in Orlando, USA. With the victory, the Eagles assume, conditionally, the lead in Group C of the Club World Cup.

Ángel Di María, at 45+8 and 90+8 minutes, both from penalties, Vangelis Pavlidis, at 53, Renato Sanches, at 63, and Leandro Barreiro, at 76 and 78, scored the goals for the reds.

In the first game in the competition, Benfica had drawn 2-2 with Boca Juniors.

With this triumph, Bruno Lage's team now leads the group alone, with four points, against three from Bayern Munich and one from Boca Juniors, who face each other later today.

The Oceania set remains at zero.
